If you didn't get a chance to make some for Thanksgiving don't worry. It is never too late to make some to go with your left over turkey. This cranberry sauce is perfect to go on a turkey sandwich or even on a sausage biscuit. I think today I am going to have a spinach salad with some left over fried turkey, feta cheese and a dollop of this cranberry sauce. No dressing needed!
Last year was my first time making homemade cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. I used to love the canned cranberry sauce but now after making this and discovering how EASY it is I will never go back to canned cranberry sauce.
I am being serious when I say this is super easy and quick to make. Go get some fresh cranberries right now from the store before they are all gone for the season. Enjoy!
In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice. Stir in the cinnamon and cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools. Store in a tight sealed container in the refrigerator.
This was our first Thanksgiving as a family of three (well four including our fur baby). It was filled with a ton a laughter, love, great food, and good company! We woke up early and I quickly made my homemade cranberry sauce.
We arrived at my parents house where everyone was steadily preparing for the wonderful Thanksgiving feast as they watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. After we arrived it decided to rain. However, rain, snow, sleet or shine, nothing stops this Master Chef.
My Dad and my brother fried up some chicken wings for a 9:00 am morning snack before they fried the three turkeys. Soon after, the rain stopped and in went turkey number 1. One down two more to go! My parents fry three turkeys because my Dad hates wasting all of that oil for one turkey. So we eat one for Thanksgiving and then each child gets half of a turkey to take home.
While the turkeys were frying everyone helped out in the kitchen. If you have ever visited the Strazi house you know that a majority of your time is spent in the kitchen. That is where most of our memories are made. So for Ava's first Thanksgiving at Nona and Papa's that is exactly what she did.
She danced with her Uncle Andrew, cuddled with Uncle T.J., helped Nona and Papa mash the potatoes, and helped Nona and I make the cornbread dressing. My mom FINALLY let me make the cornbread dressing. I guess all I had to do was just have a baby! Of course, she was really missing her Aunt Nicole and her other Uncle Andrew but she will see them the day after Christmas!
Preparing for the Thanksgiving feast was a group effort. Everyone helped out in some way. I asked my dad if he had any soy sauce for the glaze that goes over the bacon wrapped green beans. He says sure and whips out 432,458 soy packets from Chinese take-out. So my husband was super sweet and opened them up for me.
Coach Ray even let Ava wear his turkey hat for her first Thanksgiving.
Ava's first Thanksgiving was a wonderful one filled with endless love.
Last year we spent Thanksgiving with Joey's parents so this year we spent Thanksgiving with mine. We have decided not to try and go to two houses in one day for the holidays. It is just too much for one day and you can't really sit and enjoy the time together without being in a hurry. So we usually take turns on the actual holiday day and then go to the other house the day after. So even though we didn't get to see them this holiday weekend we sure thought about them and all of our wonderful family and friends as we thanked God for our many blessings and remembered all the things we are thankful for.

As we get ready for this Thanksgiving holiday I can't help but reflect on all the many things we are so thankful for. This November we used the chalkboard wall in our kitchen to write a list of things we are thankful for. The truth is there isn't a wall or list long enough to write all the things we are thankful for. We truly are so very blessed and we thank God everyday for these many blessings.
At the beginning of this month with the support and encouragement of my loving husband I decided to start this blog. It has been such a wonderful experience and I am so thankful for all of you who have followed along with me on this new journey. I have enjoyed spending this wonderful Holiday with you all and I look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface, knead 1 to 2 minutes. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
Roll dough into an 18 x 10 inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface, brush with 2 tablespoons melted butter. Combine 2 cups sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle 1 cup of mixture over dough. Roll up jellyroll fashion, starting at long side, pinch long edge (do not seal ends). Place roll seam side down and cut into 18 (1 inch) slices.
Sprinkle a portion of remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture lightly over waxed paper. Roll each slice out to 1/8 inch thickness, turning over once. Carefully transfer slices to an engrossed baking sheet. Spread each pastry with remaining melted butter, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture and pecans. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
