This Christmas had so many emotions. It was magical, joyful, sad, happy and more. It was filled with love, laughter, tears, smiles, and cheer for the birth of our Lord and Savior.
We started our Christmas celebration at my parents house for Christmas Eve. The day before my Dad prepped and cooked his seafood gumbo for us to eat Christmas Eve.
It was so good! It was so much fun to watch the kids unwrap their gifts. We learned that Ava is VERY slow at unwrapping presents. Every little piece of wrapping paper HAS to go into the trash bag before she unwraps another piece. It was hilarious to watch!
That evening we headed home back to Lakeland to get ready for Santa. This year Santa brought Ava a playground set. Thankfully, after ordering it twice it arrived just a few days before Christmas. Luckily, Santa's little elves were able to put it together and have it ready for Christmas morning! Ava loves it!
Later that morning we headed to Joey's parents house to spend Christmas with Nanna, Aunt Heather and Uncle Brian. As many of you know Pop passed away earlier that week. It was very hard having Christmas without him but I know he was there in our hearts. There were many tears that day as we missed Pop, and some smiles as we went down memory lane. We celebrated Christmas just like Pop would have wanted us to. We had a yummy steak dinner, watched Ava play with her new toys, relaxed around the Christmas tree and enjoyed each other's company while remembering Pop and celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Before Pop passed away he filled out a heirloom journal sharing about his life for his grandchildren. Another thing he did was recorded his voice reading, A Story of The Nativity. It's one of those Hallmark books that allows you to record a voice and then replays it as you turn the pages. I think every grandparent should do this for their grand babies, whether you think your time is near or far.
The day after Christmas we took Ava to Bush Gardens to see their Christmas Town and Elmo's Christmas show. It was so much fun! I highly recommend going next year if you get a chance. It's great for little kids and the crowd really wasn't that bad at all.
And that's a wrap on this year's Christmas! We missed you so much Pop and Georgia and we love you!
