Back in December Joey and I took a glassblowing class at the Zen Glass Studio in St. Pete and then went to dinner afterwards at The Farm Table. Glassblowing was so much fun and dinner was delicious!
We bought the classes from Groupon and paid for four people hoping we would be able to get another couple to come with us. Due to the busy time of year we weren't able to find another couple to go with us. Our Groupon expired at the end of 2016 so we went ahead and used it. The owner was SUPER nice and told us that since we paid for four people we could come back at another time and take another class. He also said we didn't have to worry about the expiration date. We are stoked to go back!
At the start of the class they had both of us pick out three colors of glass we wanted to use for our project.
The class we took is called flame working. I made a wine glass and Joey made a candy dish (for me). Well the instructor made the actual glass and dish and then we made the stems for each piece. At first, I was a little surprised and didn't quite understand why we only got to make the stem but after flame working I completely understand why we just made the stems. Flame working is NOT easy and it takes A LOT of technique and practice.
Here was our instructor making the candy dish.
Then he made the chalice.
Now it was our turn.
Then the instructor added the stems and we were done.
Afterwards we headed to The Farm Table to grab a bite to eat. Joey had a delicious burger and I had some yummy ravioli!
Our date night was a success! Have you tried glass blowing before?
