The color of my teeth has been something I have always struggled with. Being a regular coffee drinker and just over time they have turned yellow. After I started my blog and once we had Ava I found myself being present in more and more pictures every day.
As I scrolled through my social media feeds I began to notice the color of my teeth more and it made me uncomfortable. I have always wanted to whiten my teeth and now I wanted to more than ever. I asked my dentist about teeth whitening and my mouth dropped when I heard the price! It was so expensive! The dentist also explained to me that the fillings on the front of my teeth won't absorb the whitening so after whitening if I want them to match I will have to have them replaced (you will notice these in my before and after pictures below). That added even more money to the bill. Needless to say I went home and did some research on different ways to whiten your teeth. Thankfully, I discovered Smile Brilliant and their affordable teeth whitening system. I have been whitening my teeth using their system and I can already notice a big difference in the color of my teeth.
Smile Brilliant offers a non-sensitive system and a sensitive system. Knowing my tooth sensitivity and being a regular coffee drinker I went with the sensitive system for average stains.
The process is pretty simple. You pick out your system, they send you your kit with the materials needed to make your impressions at home, you send it back to them in the already pre- addressed and stamped package provided, once their lab receives your impressions your custom-fitted trays are created and mailed back to you within 3-5 business days. Once you receive your trays you whiten and relax! I love that you don’t have to visit the dentist multiple times for this process. Everything happens in the comfort of your home!
Due to heavy stains I am still whitening my teeth. After 14 applications this is what my teeth look like so far.
After my first whitening application I noticed my teeth had white streaks on them. I freaked out! If this happens to you don’t worry. It will go away! The white streaks are a sign of decalcification, which is de-mineralization of the teeth caused by the whitening. As the gel carries stains out, it takes with it minerals and hydration. Over night my saliva re-mineralized my teeth and the streaks disappeared. The desensitizing gel can also help with this as well.
Throughout this process I have experienced zero tooth sensitivity. I am so happy about this because I was so afraid my teeth would be really sensitive towards the whitening. I think going with their sensitive system has helped tremendously.
Overall this experience has been amazing. My teeth are getting whiter with every application and the Smile Brilliant staff has been available to answer any questions I have had along the way. I also love that they have a 45 day trial. This allows you to try their product for 45 days and see the results yourself. If you don’t love it, they will pick it up and give you a full refund. Chances are you will LOVE the results!
Note: I have a filling on the front of my right tooth. The filling will not absorb the whitening. I knew this prior to whitening. I am not sure if I will get it replaced yet or if I will just roll with it.
