Stovetop Potpourri

This year Ava and I put together little bags of stovetop potpourri for her teachers. These bags are super easy to make and smell amazing! They bring the smell of Christmas to every home!

It took Ava and I very little time to get these bags put together. I didn’t really measure anything which is great about this gift. It’s pretty much a failproof DIY. You can’t go wrong with this recipe.

I bought all of the ingredients needed for the potpourri bags in bulk so I could make a bunch of them to hand out to our family and friends. Thank goodness I had a few left over! I have been using at least one a week to get our house filled with Christmas aromas. I usually leave the potpourri in the pot after I am done letting it simmer for the day and reuse it the next day. For me, each bag has lasted for two days.

I found this cute ribbon in the dollar section at Target and used this free printable to go along with the bags.

Stovetop Potpourri

Ingredients:

  • 1 orange
  • About 1 cup of fresh cranberries
  • About 1 tablespoons or more of nutmeg
  • 3 cinnamon sticks

Note: I didn’t really measure so that’s why I said “about”. We just threw everything in the bag. This is a great gift for the kids to help with.

Directions:

  • Slice orange and add everything to a small pot. Add two cups of water and simmer on low. Add water as needed.

Optional: I added some clippings from our Christmas tree to my simmering pot.
