Last week, Ava and I headed to Cocoa beach to hang out with my parents for a few days. Unfortunately, Joey couldn't make it for this trip and we sure did miss him. I made sure to take LOTS of pictures to show him when we got home.
Prior to going I imagined my beach vacation being filled with days of me relaxing at the beach, sunbathing in my lounge chair while drinking a Pina Colada and reading my book while Ava napped. Hahaha...who was I kidding? I am a Momma now!
This is what it really looked like...
Dips in the ocean. Ava liked the salt water. I wouldn't say that she loved it but she definitely wasn't afraid of it.
Of course I was so worried about putting sunscreen on Ava that I forgot to put some on me. Yea...that's my back frying.
Adventures in the sand. When it came to the sand Ava LOVED the sand! She only tried to eat it once or twice and then I think she learned her lesson.
I brought a book to the beach thinking I would have time to read it. HAHAHA..I clearly didn't have a clue and had never been to the beach with a 10 month old that is on the go. Needless to say I think I got to read one page of my book while at the beach but so far it's a really good book! Ha!
Nona and Papa bought Ava her own little beach chair for when she got tired of sitting in the sand.
One morning we headed out early to the beach with Papa for a stroll in the wagon.
We stopped to play a little...
...and to send Daddy a little note from the beach.
Our morning stroll was cut short when I realized I forgot Ava's morning snacks in the room. Bad move! We headed back to the room as Ava started crying and screaming for her puffs. Lesson learned...ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring snacks!
The beach wagon we brought the to beach served so many purposes. It was used to haul all of our beach cargo to the beach, as a play pen, for beach strolls, and nap time. The wagon was awesome to have on hand. You can find out where to purchase the wagon and many more of our beach essentials here.
I had a hard time keeping hats on Ava but somehow she loved wearing her sand bucket as a hat. Hey...whatever works for Magoo! Sometimes you just have to roll with it.
So as you can see our beach vacation was more like playing in the sand with Ava, taking dips in the water here and there, exfoliating my bum and the rest of my body with pounds of sand (so much for sitting in the lounge chair), getting a nice red crisp of color on my skin and then hiding under the umbrella (my tanning days are long gone), making bottles, opening baby food pouches, digging for puffs in my beach bag, chasing after a little one, drinking a watered down luke warm Pina Colada in between transitions, and taking 102,520 pictures all to capture this beautiful adventure. In all honesty I wouldn't want it any other way! My beach chair, sun bathing, book reading days can wait. This little one won't stay little for long.
You can find all of the beach essentials that helped us survive the beach with a baby in my recent blog post here.
Something tells me next year at the beach with this little one will look a whole lot different!
