DIY Accent Wall, Ava’s Toddler Room

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to make an accent wall in Ava’s toddler room using removable wallpaper like we did in Zoey’s nursery.

After I found a wallpaper I loved and priced it out I realized it would cost me around $200 to do the entire wall. I didn’t want to spend that kind of money so I decided to use what we had at home to create a “wallpaper” look.

In other words, basically an accent wall with leftover paint I had at home from previous projects.

I searched Pinterest for some inspiration and this is what I found.

My final product doesn’t really look like what I found on Pinterest but I still love it and think it’s perfect for Ava!

Ava helped with painting which made it even more fun.

There wasn’t really a method to this. I just kind of put some paint on the rollers and went with it.

Once the green dried on the wall I realized I wasn’t really a fan of the color so I painted over it with the blue I had which gave us a really pretty color.

Is this wall perfect? It depends on who is looking at it. I asked Ava if she liked it and she replied, “Mom it’s PERFECT!”

Did it match my vision…? Not exactly, but I think it’s perfect for Ava and for us! The best part is I used what we already had at home and saved $200!

If we get tired of it in a few years (months…just kidding honey) we can cover it up. After all…it’s just paint!

Are you thinking about doing an accent wall or changing things up in your home? Do it! Go for it! Have fun with it and enjoy! Create something beautiful!
