DIY Pet Snuffle Mat

Ever since Ava was born our poor fur baby has been put on the back burner. She definitely doesn’t get as much attention as she used to. This year for Christmas I want to do something really special for her.

The other day I told her that Santa Paws is making his list and checking it twice. Here is her behavior report so far.

I think it’s clear to see Georgia has a very good chance at being on Santa Paws’s nice list this year. That’s as long as she doesn’t eat Santa’s milk and cookies!

Every year Georgia has a stocking that she loves opening up on Christmas morning. Last year, was our first Christmas as parents so I am pretty sure we just stuffed her stocking with toys from her toy box.

I love my pet and I want to treat her to a Merry Christmas season. Therefore, this year we are stepping up our game and stuffing her stocking with her favorite dog treats made by PEDIGREE®. I got a jump start this year on my Christmas shopping and headed to Walmart to pick up PEDIGREE® Marrobone® Mini Beef Flavor Dog Snacks, and her favorite, a PEDIGREE® JUMBONE™ for Large Dogs.

I also made her this DIY Pet Snuffle Mat for being an extra good girl this year.

This snuffle mat is a great toy to treat your pet this Christmas. It’s also a great way to keep them busy during your Christmas dinner.

The materials needed to make the snuffle mat include, strips of fleece, an anti-fatigue mat with holes in it, and a pair of scissors. I chose three different colors of fleece and had a half a yard of each color. I cut the anti-fatigue mat in half.

The next step is to just start tying the fleece to the anti-fatigue mat. I started with my red and then added my greens. Some pieces I just tied once and some I knotted twice. Once I had several pieces tied to the mat I started tying those pieces together to fill in the holes. When your mat is full and most of the holes are covered then you’re done! The snuffle mat is machine washable. You can put it inside a pillowcase and throw it in the washer.

You can also tie a fluffy toy to the middle of the mat using the strips of fleece.

Since Georgia has been such a good girl I let her play with her snuffle mat early. The PEDIGREE® Marrobone® Mini Beef Flavor Dog Snacks work best for the snuffle mat. They are small enough to tie and hide in the mat so your dog can search for them.

Georgia had a blast playing with her snuffle mat and enjoyed her treats. We love Georgia and are truly lucky to have such a wonderful dog. One of the biggest things we are thankful for is her love and gentleness towards our daughter. Before having our daughter I was so nervous about how Georgia would react to a baby being around and to someone else being the center of attention. Georgia has been absolutely wonderful and we couldn’t be more grateful. It brings me happiness to know she will be spoiled this Christmas! Her stocking will be full and while we open presents she will be playing with a present of her own.

Love it! And, great idea for how to wash…pillowcase!? I never would have thought of that! I’m eager to make one….How long did you cut the strips of fabric?

Hey! Thank you! I cut the strips between 6 to 8 inches or so. I just eye balled it and didn’t measure them. Fleece stretches pretty good so if you needed to stretch the piece to make it longer you could do that too.
