DIY Pom Pom Garland

This DIY pom pom garland has become one of my favorite things on our tree this year!

I love fun and colorful garland on a tree, and this homemade garland hit the spot! Not to mention it was made with SO much love from my students and I.

That’s right…my 6TH GRADE STUDENTS helped me make this garland. I didn’t have the intention of them helping, but it just kind of worked out that way.

I brought the materials to make some pompoms during my lunch break, and I showed some of my students what I was working on. Then one of them asked if they could make one and I said sure!

I found a piece of technical text to go along with it for them to learn how to make a pom pom.

These pom poms became a way for my students to decompress, open up, and just relax. They helped many settle down from being upset and angry, and they served as a positive incentive for my students.

Ok, enough teacher stuff…lets get down to how to make this fun DIY pom pom garland.

I will say that if you’re planning to make this by yourself, it can definitely be time consuming and take a little while, so I recommend recruiting some help.

Post Update

I originally planned on making a Pom Pom wreath but realized it was taking forever. So I decided to use the poms poms I had leftover for more garland for our tree.

I LOVE how it turned out. This garland has different sizes, colors and patterns.
