Who’s ready for football season? I think one of my favorite things about game day is the food and endless appetizers. I mean, what’s a football party or tailgate without yummy food and delicious beverages? Right?

Our weekends during football season look a little something like this…

Saturday morning we head to Publix to grab all of our needed necessities for game day. Ava insists on me pushing her around in their car shaped shopping carts. We make a pit stop at their bakery for her free cookie, then continue our way throughout the store and make our final stop in the beverage aisle to pick up the official drink of college football, good ole Dr Pepper®.

The rest of Saturday and Sunday you can find us quickly finishing house chores so we can spend the rest of the weekend relaxing and enjoying game day with our family and friends.

Today, I’m sharing a simple appetizer that will have you spending less time in the kitchen and more time cheering on your favorite team.

I call this deliciousness, Pepperoni Pizza Pull Apart Bread. It’s a simple recipe with few ingredients and perfect for game day. It takes about 15 minutes or less to prep and 15 minutes to bake.

To make this recipe you first use a serrated bread knife to slice the bread. Make long slices about 1.5 inches apart all across the bread, and then in the opposite direction so that you get a checkerboard effect. Be careful not to slice all the way through the bread, you don’t want to cut through the bottom crust!

Next, gently stuff the mozzarella into all of the spaces in the bread. After that stuff pepperoni slices into the spaces next. Melt butter and whisk in Italian seasoning. Drizzle or brush seasoned butter over the whole bread.

Place the loaf onto a prepared baking sheet lined with an extra long piece of foil. Wrap the loaf with the overhanging foil. Bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and the bread starts to brown lightly. Serve pull-apart bread with warmed pizza/marina sauce. Pull-apart your pizza bread, dip, and enjoy! Easy right?

Right now you can save on Dr Pepper at Publix. Now through  9/14 (while supplies last), save $1 off any 2, 2 Liter Dr Pepper products.

PEPPERONI PIZZA PULL APART BREAD RECIPE

  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara/pizza sauce

  4. Place loaf onto prepared baking sheet and wrap the loaf with the overhanging foil. Bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and bread start to brown lightly. Serve pull-apart bread with warmed pizza/marina sauce. Pull-apart your pizza bread, dip, and enjoy!
