This weekend started off bright and early with delicious two dozen hot and fresh Shipley’s donuts delivered to our home from my twin brother!
Until last Thursday, the closest Shipley’s donuts I’d ever been too was 831 miles away in Greenville, MS (where I was born). They’re a childhood memory I will never forget. Every time we went home to visit my family we were always greeted with a box of donuts. My Papa use to go early in the morning when they first opened to get us some fresh donuts. Gosh, they were so good!
Anyhow, last week we learned that a Shipley’s Donuts opened up in Bradenton, FL. My brother got up bright and early Saturday morning, and drove an hour and 15 minutes to get us two dozen glazed donuts and some donut holes. We had to see if they were the same and by-golly they tasted just like I remembered.
After devouring a box of donuts and some donut holes it was time for Ava and I to get ready for our Mommy and Me date at the Art Centric Studio in downtown Lakeland.
Once a month the Art Centric Studio has a mommy and me painting class for all ages from 12months – 5 years.
The studio is such a neat place! Ava and I had a blast painting our shark!
Moms and Dads are welcomed. You both can show up, or just one.
That evening, my brother came back over for a delicious steak dinner! My husband picked up some steaks at a place he found in Plant City and used the most delicious marinade for them. I will have to ask him where he found the recipe and share it this week on my Friday Favorites.
After dinner, we played games and had pretend birthday parties. We went to bed that evening with full bellies and full hearts.
Sunday morning, Ava decided to let me sleep in and woke up at 5:30am instead of her usual 4:30 am. The first thing she said was, “Mommy, I want to ride my bike.” I explained to her that she needed to wait until the sun came up.
My husband cooked us a delicious steak and egg breakfast with the leftover steak and then we went outside for a bike ride. We spent the rest of the day, playing, prepping food for the week, doing laundry and getting ready to go back to work.
It was a great weekend!
