This 4th of July was packed with family, friends, and a little weekend staycation at the Epicurean hotel in Tampa, FL for my husband and I.
Here’s a recap…
Wednesday, July 3rd
We went to Lakeland’s annual Red, White and Kaboom firework show downtown. We went last year and enjoyed it so much that we wanted to go back this year.
Thursday, July 4th
We woke up early to pack for our weekend getaway (kid free), then picked up a rotisserie chicken from Publix, a few of their sides and headed to my mother in-laws to celebrate the 4th of July.
We dropped the girls off with my mother in-law and headed to Tampa for our little getaway (kid free).
The Epicurean Hotel in Tampa, In Historic Hyde Park
We checked into the Epicurean hotel. They actually met us at our car to check us in, which I thought was pretty neat. They only have valet parking so we walked and took Uber’s during our stay.
4th of July Dinner at Elevage
That night we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Elevage. The food and whole dinning experience was wonderful!
We ordered their smoked wings served with Alabama white sauce. These wings were probably some of the best I’ve ever had.
For our main course I ordered the halibut, and my husband had the homage to Bern’s. Both were delicious!
Dessert at Bern’s Dessert Room
After dinner we were able to sneak in reservations for Bern’s dessert room. We ordered our the macadamia nut sundae, which is our absolute favorite and a must try at Bern’s! Tip: If you eat at Elevage and want to go to Bern’s for dessert, let your waiter know and they will call over and get you reservations for the dessert room.
We also ran into some of our best friends on our way out! Such an awesome surprise!
Friday, July 5th
We slept in until 7:40am, which is definitely sleeping in compared to our usual 5:30am wake up from our toddler. My husband headed down to the lobby to get me a complimentary cup of Bern’s coffee.
Breakfast at Daily Eats
We walked to Daily Eats for some breakfast. I had their honey vanilla yogurt bowl and Joey ordered the acai bowl. Both were so good!
Shopping at Hyde Park Village
After breakfast, we walked to the Hyde Park Village. The walk was so nice! We walked by so many beautiful homes with gorgeous landscaping and I even got some great ideas and inspiration for our yard.
Lunch at Bartaco
I’ve been wanting to try Bartaco for the longest time and I have to say it definitely didn’t disappoint. Bartaco was so good! I highly recommend trying their portobello taco and the guac. Next time we visit, I’m going to order the plantains, street corn fritters and their churros. I hear they’re super delicious!
Relaxation by the Pool
After lunch we headed back to the hotel to rest up before our BIG evening! I hung out by the pool while Joey took a nap inside. I listened to my audio book and painted my nails.
The Greatest Showman Arena Tour!
For Christmas last year Joey and I gifted each other “experiences” together. This was my gift to Joey and he surprised me with tickets for us to see Hugh Jackman’s arena tour. Our seats were amazing and the show was spectacular! Hugh Jackman is such a talented man.
Saturday, July 6th
We slept in one last time and then walked to breakfast before checking out of our hotel.
Breakfast at Daily Eats Again
Breakfast was so good the first time at Daily Eats that we decided to go back again the next day. This time I ordered a side of their Cap’n Crunch crusted french toast. It was so delicious!
Coffee at Blind Tiger Cafe
While walking back to our hotel we stopped at the Blind Tiger Cafe to try their Dirty Thaiger. My first sip was heavenly! This drink is so tasty! So happy I went for something different than my usual iced coffee.
Papa Strazi’s Annual 4th of July BBQ
After picking up the girls we drove to Orlando for my Dad’s annual 4th of July BBQ. We arrived just in time for lunch!
The day was filled with family and good food! After our bellies and hearts were full we packed up our leftovers and headed back home to Lakeland to get ready for our next adventure.
